Using the Interactive Simulations

There are many simulations on this webstie - specific instructions unique to the individual simulations are placed on the page with the simulation - as time permits.

Secret Codes

There are some standard codes that are used on many of the simulations that greatly enhance their utility. To use these codes just press the appropriate button on your keyboard while the simulation is active.

  • A - (ALL) - pushing A sets up a display with an HSI and RMI
  • S - (Standard VOR indicator) - sets up a display with a conventional VOR indicator an no HSI
  • R - (RMI) - sets up to fly ADF using and RMI
  • F - (Fixed Card) - sets up to fly fixed card ADF
  • H - HSI) - on some simulations this gives an HSI but no RMI

In addition to the above codes there are some number codes embedded on certain simulations. These establish certain specific scenarios that an instructor might use with a student. They by-pass the random-number-generator that is used when you press the "Do Another" key. Not all simulations have these numbered codes but if they do you can access them by pressing the number 1 - 2 - 3 etc on the keyboard.
